History
fs[ix] was founded in 1997 by renowned scientist and technological pioneer, Roger E. Billings, the original inventor and patent holder of Functionally Structured Distribution (FSD). With his extensive background in client/server computing since its inception, Billings and his team created a new operating system utilizing the full benefits and rules defined in FSD. They called it Functionally Structured UNIX (fs[ix]). This powerful platform was optimized into hardware to deliver a whole level of performance and security for file serving and digital video access. In 1998, fs[ix] released the world's first Gigabit networked Video Servers for education and other high-performance applications. The fs[ix] product line now includes servers, iSCSI storage, and high-end desktops that carry a tradition of best-in-class performance and support.
